Well, not really a saga...more like an episode. Well, as of today, it is concluded. (Boo!) I honestly wouldn't have minded hearing Joey one more time tho. But here are my thoughts:
- "Letter to Saigon" was FUCKIN HARD!
- Saigon came back tho...minus the irrelevant & uncalled for mention of Tray, (kids should never be put in a battle I don't care what the reason is) "Under Achiever" was TOUGH! I knew Joey could come back cuz the punchlines would sting, but they weren't Kimbo punches nah mean.
- Joey bruised him up tho on "Pain in his Life". No lie; when I was listening to it; I had to keep pausing it and shaking my head. Not only was it lyrical, but you could tell Joe Budden is a smart muthafucka cuz he didnt't get all sensitve & take none of them stabs to heart and he wasn't mad defensive. He was pretty much like, "Yeah? So? You just like me nigga. Guess we one and the same", then went on to sautee Sai. After like 30 mins, I finally got through the whole song, but damn Joey! (Sidebar: I had the shit on replay for like an hour lol!)
- But then, Saigon comes back with "Push Buddens". Need I say more? He put the nail in the coffin. Sorry Joey. Honestly, I didn't know if Budden could come back from this one man. Sai really went in. He spit on Protect Ya Neck then when you think he's done, he rips Joey on his own fucking beat! This nigga's crazy! He went in tho. I really wanna side with Joe cuz that's my dude, but I gotta give credit when credit is due.
So here I am today, so used to the daily disses, I'm waiting for Joey's response, and lo and behold; it's reported that Just Blaze played mediator last night, got these lyricists on the phone, and deaded the beef. No Joey diss? Damn. I can't lie, I woulda liked for this to at least last the week, and I was curious to hear what Budden woulda said. A lot of people have mixed opinions about who won, but I'm gonna have to declare this one a tie...Nah, Joey got it! Overall, "Letter to Saigon" and "Pain in his Life" were harder than Saigon's disses. But Sai did his thing tho. He says he's not a battle rapper, but he coulda fooled me! Brooklyn, stand up!
For the record, I'm a fan of both these guys. I've been a Saigon fan longer, but I haven't heard from him in a minute. I started to lose faith in the kid. The Mood Muzik mixtapes are the truth, and Def Jam didn't push Joe the way he shoulda been pushed; but I still rock with the nigga. Saigon needs to stop playing and just do a track with Slaughterhouse, who, by the way, Imma see tonight at SOB's!
