Prom Queen
I really can’t do the autotune bullshit anymore. I can’t wait for this phase to pass. Anyway, one of the kings of the autotune, Lil Wayne, is following in the steps of his predecessors and is adding to the trend of rappers breaking down music genre labeled barriers. As did Jay-Z with Linkin Park, and Kanye West with his latest release, 808s and Heartbreaks, Weezy too is branching out to do a different sound. He’s taking a stab at rock music, but ironically, he is combining what Hov and Ye did by singing (Ye) over rock beats (Hov). His debut rock song is titled “Prom Queen”, and although I CAN’T stand the autotune; the song is pretty hot.
Na Na Na Na Na!
Say what you want about the Harlem arrogance and the overall lack of lyrical talent Dipset possesses (not my words people…I swear!), but you gotta call a spade a spade: these dudes are trendsetters. They always have the hottest beats, the craziest but relatable hooks, and the most imaginative song titles the world’s ever heard. Dipset Capo Jim Jones has released another single from his upcoming project Pray IV Reign titled “Na Na Na Na Na”. He even says the word with a little-kid tease in his voice lmao! Please check it out. Not only is the title and hook catchy, but Jimmy is saying some shit and having fun with it.
Sidebar: Jimmy also turned himself in to authorities recently for the brawl that took place between him and a member of Ne-Yo’s entourage at the Louis Vuitton store in NYC.
