Tidbits of News

  • It’s all over the internet that Jay-Z used to date the late Aaliyah before Dame Dash, and that this is one of the reasons their friendship dissolved.
  • Starbucks will be closing 300 more stores in addition to the 600 they previously announced they were shutting down. Also, they will stop serving decaffeinated coffee after 12pm to try to save $400 milli. (How’s that possible?)
  • One of Ron Browz’s bangers, “Pop Champagne”, reached #1 on Billboard this week. The Harlem, NY native is also slated to be one of the performers at the Apollo Theater’s 75th Anniversary celebration.
  • Ja Rule is still touring. He is scheduled to do some shows out in Europe. He also has a film coming out soon called, Don’t Fade Away (can you say ironic?), and he’s working on his next album.
  • Rumor has it that 50 Cent’s album has been pushed to March 2009.
  • Havoc, one half of the rap duo Mobb Deep, is releasing his 2nd solo project, Hidden Files sometime next month.
  • Rocko, (Monica’s fiancé) best known for his hit, “Umma Do Me”, was sentenced to 2 days in jail and 1 year probation after being found guilty of assaulting a woman at a club in Atlanta back in February 2007.
  • I’m hearing that Queen Latifah will be releasing a memoir. There is no specific date for the Queen’s book, but it is rumored to be release sometime next year.
